I had no trouble with the exercises in Week 1. I have some experience with Blogs and RSS feeds. I think they are cool myself. I have not used RSS feeds lately and find the ability to have a feed to a PUBMED SEarch, journal very handy.
I created a Blog called Petcapades and subscribed to 6 feeds: one to Modern Healthcare; one as a PUBMED search for Uptodate; and 4 other of general interest to me.
Personally, it is info overload for me, however. I don't utilize either on a daily basis. I can barely keep up with work emails.
The only little issue I had was with the instructions on how to post our progress. The words in the sample blog did not display in English. It wasn't an issue since the text wasn't important to the example.
I am in a non-teaching, acute care hospital library. I see applications for both but I think it is a bit down the road for our users. We have come a long way with online utilization but most of our users are not ready for this degree of technology. I'm teaching a class on basic online tools tomorrow for our nurse educators. I asked them all to sign up for the OVID online tutorial and half of them couldn't manage to register.
Sigh. I hope I can prove myself wrong!
