Web 2.0 Week 7: Podcasting and Online Hosted Video

I took an MLA class that discussed podcasting in Phoenix. I used Odeo after that class. I played with it and set up some podcasts. I looked at it again today.
In my setting (non teaching hospital library), technology takes time. After the class in Phoenix, I felt the best use of podcasts would be for senior leader groups who attend our leadership classes. I approached by boss who is in charge of the classess and is a techie. But she didn't think it was important. I just surveyed leaders to see if they would have an interest in NetLibrary. I received a very favorable response but also had two people who said our IT department probably wouldn't like.
Baby steps.
I do not see podcasting from the library in the near future. We still have people who cannot use a mouse!
You Tube is blocked by the organization so that won't take off here anytime soon.
I spend little time after work on the computer so don't have a lot of experience with You Tube. After the debates on ABC, I think I will start watching YOu Tube instead of watching the news!

AGain, utilization of these applications will be thwarted by our IT department.
